Baseball Recap: Incline Highlanders vs. Battle Mountain Longhorns

Incline extended their losing streak to ten on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-20. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Battle Mountain Longhorns. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-6 on Friday.

Francisco Jones was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adan Ayala, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Isaac Link was another, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Battle Mountain, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-16. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Battle Mountain's side, Keegan Peasnall was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Peasnall a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aiden Holland, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

While Incline had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
