Basketball Game Preview: Waupaca Comets vs. Winneconne Wolves

The Waupaca Comets will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Winneconne Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Waupaca beat Oconto Falls 54-49. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Comets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Panthers are ranked 130th).

Meanwhile, Winneconne had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Ripon 84-70 on Friday.

The win made it two in a row for Waupaca and bumps their season record up to 3-5. As for Winneconne, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6.

Waupaca beat Winneconne 76-65 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does Waupaca have another victory up their sleeve, or will Winneconne turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
