Football Game Preview: Cedar Creek Eagles vs. A&M Consolidated Tigers

The Cedar Creek Eagles will square off against the A&M Consolidated Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Creek hasn't scored more than 13 points for seven games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

On Thursday, Cedar Creek was beaten by Anderson 62-3. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1029th, while the Trojans are ranked 78th).

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for A&M Consolidated on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Hendrickson out of the water with a 51-10 final score. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 27 points or more this season.

A&M Consolidated found their leader in sophomore Holt Goodwin, who threw for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Another player making a difference was Cooper Johnson, who picked up 41 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

A&M Consolidated's run defense was locked in: Hendrickson could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. The Tigers didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.5.

A&M Consolidated didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kayden Steptoe, Charles Rudolph, and Simon Starks picked up one apiece.

A&M Consolidated has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.8 points over those games. As for Cedar Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Cedar Creek was dealt a bruising 86-6 defeat at the hands of A&M Consolidated in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 53-0.
