Recap: Concord Spiders vs. Carson Cougars
If the Concord Spiders were feeling good off their 99-54 takedown of the East Rowan Mustangs last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Concord took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carson. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Spiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremiah Howard, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Howard has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jadah Freeman, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Concord's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7. As for Carson, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord will square off against Northwest Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Northwest Cabarrus is ranked 181st, while Concord is ranked 179th). As for Carson, they will head out on the road to square off against Robinson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
