Softball Recap: Sheboygan South Comes Up Short

Sheboygan South had lost 22 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-19 to make it 23. They came up short against the Pulaski Red Raiders, falling 23-0. If the Redwings were looking for revenge after losing 20-0 to the Red Raiders when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Pulaski, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Pulaski's part, Addison Luebke made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, Luebke is now averaging an impressive 5 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kianna Altendorf was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Molly Molthen was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Coming up, Sheboygan South will head out on the road to square off against Oostburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Redwings are facing the Flying Dutchmen at the right time seeing as the Flying Dutchmen are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Pulaski, they will challenge Ashwaubenon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Raiders 3.2, the Jaguars 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
