Baseball Game Preview: Gustine Reds vs. Modesto Christian Crusaders

For the second straight game, Gustine will face off against Modesto Christian. The Reds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gustine has three straight victories, Modesto Christian has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Gustine's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Modesto Christian 12-0. The result was nothing new for the Reds, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Alexander Quezada was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Mike Saaranzin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and two RBI.

Gustine's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Modesto Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-18.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Gustine has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Modesto Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.5 strikeouts.
