Baseball Recap: Merritt Academy Triumphs

Merritt Academy's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Peck Pirates, sneaking past 8-6. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 8-5 win the Pirates walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Jackson Dupuis, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Merritt Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Lucas Hayter also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Merritt Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory got Merritt Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Peck, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Merritt Academy will face off against Landmark Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Peck, they will square off against Dryden at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
