Basketball Recap: Gunnison Drops Season-High Score on North Fork

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gunnison). They came out on top against the North Fork Miners by a score of 55-44 on Friday. The Cowboys have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Miners, too.

Gunnison got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kylee McDougal out in front who posted 13 points along with eight assists and five boards. That's the most assists McDougal has posted since back in January. Yaslin Hernandez was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

McDougal wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Gunnison was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Gunnison and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for North Fork, they moved to 3-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Gunnison didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-29 win against Grand Valley on the 14th. As for North Fork, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 55-39 victory against Rifle on the 14th.
