Baseball Recap: Union Springs Wolves vs. Charles O. Dickerson Blue Raiders

Union Springs took care of business in their home opener on Sunday (barely). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Charles O. Dickerson Blue Raiders and snuck past 5-3. This was payback for Union Springs, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

For Charles O. Dickerson's part, Nik Nelson put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Nelson was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Chandler Wright and Ozzy Vogel-Moore did some serious damage despite the final result: Wright scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Vogel-Moore went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double.

Charles O. Dickerson now has a losing record at 0-1-1.

Union Springs will be playing in front of their home fans against Clinton at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for Charles O. Dickerson, they will head out on the road to challenge Little Falls at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
