Basketball Recap: The O'Neal School Takes a Loss

The O'Neal School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Berean Baptist Academy Bulldogs and fell 78-21. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 505th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 66th).

Berean Baptist Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jossiah Johnson led the charge by going 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Caldwell, who went 8 of 10 en route to 20 points.

The O'Neal School's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Berean Baptist Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 20-10 record this season.

While The O'Neal School had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
