Basketball Game Preview: Nantahala Hawks vs. Highlands Highlanders

Nantahala is 2-8 against Highlands since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Nantahala Hawks will host the Highlands Highlanders at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Monday, Nantahala took a blow against Cherokee, falling 96-55. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Nantahala got top-tier performance from Cole McCoy, who posted 26 points. That was a full 47.3% of Nantahala's points, marking the 11th time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Landon Neal, who scored 11 points.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 60 points the game before, Highlands was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 73-24 loss at the hands of Hayesville.

Nantahala's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Highlands, their loss dropped their record down to 7-16.

Nantahala beat Highlands 64-55 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Does Nantahala have another victory up their sleeve, or will Highlands turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
