Baseball Recap: Triton Central Tigers vs. Covenant Christian Warriors
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Triton Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Covenant Christian Warriors. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by just one run.
Nick Riggins was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Hoover, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Triton Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Covenant Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.
Looking ahead, Triton Central will square off against Tri-West Hendricks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Tigers have won four straight at home, while the Bruins won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Covenant Christian, they will take on Perry Meridian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
