Basketball Recap: Challenger Takes a Loss

Challenger extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-4. They lost to the Community Christian Academy Warriors on the road by a 79-65 margin. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Despite the defeat, Challenger saw an underclassman step up: sophomore AJ Burch went 6-for-11 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Burch. Blake Vang was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.

As for Community Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Chaden Poole was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds. His big performance that evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Thomas, who posted ten points and three steals.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Challenger will take on rival Pinnacle Classical Academy at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. Meanwhile, Community Christian Academy is set to challenge their familiar foe Nebo Crossing Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
