Basketball Recap: Westwood Comes Up Short

If Westwood was riding high fresh off their 67-27 takedown of Memphis School of Excellence Winchester last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Westwood Longhorns received a blow on Monday as they fell 88-69 to the Hillcrest Vikings. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (67), the Longhorns still had to take the loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hillcrest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jerrell Miller, who dropped a double-double with 36 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Miller a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ja'Coby Lewis, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten assists.

Westwood's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 14-11. As for Hillcrest, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Westwood nor Hillcrest have any future games scheduled.
