Baseball Game Preview: Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs vs. Forest Hill Falcons

The Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs will face off against the Forest Hill Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Dr. Joaquin Garcia: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Forest Hill has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.

On Thursday, Dr. Joaquin Garcia earned a 7-3 win over Coral Glades.

JP Mcdonough looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dr. Joaquin Garcia is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Tristan Wells was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Eric Flores, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Forest Hill ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Martin County. While the Falcons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Forest Hill's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Blas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Blas a new career-high. Blake Griffin also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Forest Hill's victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Everything went Dr. Joaquin Garcia's way against Forest Hill in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Dr. Joaquin Garcia made off with a 12-6 win. Will Dr. Joaquin Garcia repeat their success, or does Forest Hill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
