Baseball Game Preview: Chavez Eagles vs. Monroe Vikings

The Chavez Eagles will take on the Monroe Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chavez will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

On Monday, Chavez made easy work of Grant and carried off a 15-1 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Chavez got a massive performance out of Daniel Zelaya, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Zelaya has become a key player for the Eagles: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Uribe, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Chavez was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Monroe unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of San Fernando by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 19-2. As for Chavez, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.
