Softball Recap: Kankakee Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Kankakee, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Bloom Blazing Trojan 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Kays have posted since April 18, 2024.

Kylie Glogowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaleah Jackson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Cunningham, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Kankakee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.

Kankakee has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bloom, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 12-8.

Kankakee will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Blazing Trojan: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
