Softball Recap: Del Campo Cougars vs. River Valley Falcons

Del Campo extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-18 in the process. They came up short against the River Valley Falcons, falling 19-0. Considering the last time the Cougars couldn't score was back in April, the team can't take the result too hard.

Del Campo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katlin Tiss, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

As for River Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On River Valley's side, Payton Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Smith has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Kaitlyn Garcia was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexis Otero, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.
