Basketball Recap: Mcfarland Makes It Five in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for McFarland, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 61-44 win over the Shafter Generals on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Loss or not, Shafter got some senior leadership from Adin Cardenas and Ian Gonzalez. Cardenas posted 15 points along with six boards and three blocks, while Gonzalez put up 16 points and seven rebounds. Cardenas' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Diego Pompa was another key player, putting up five points.

McFarland pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.8 points per game. As for Shafter, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

McFarland won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bakersfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bakersfield has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 214 points over their last three matchups. As for Shafter, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against North at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
