Baseball Recap: Rampart Rams vs. Grand Junction Tigers
Rampart was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Grand Junction Tigers. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.
Rampart got a good showing from Brody Gum, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Vince Carpio was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Cash Carpio, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Rampart's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Grand Junction, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Coming up, Rampart will venture away from home to take on Discovery Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Grand Junction, they will welcome Rifle at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
