Basketball Game Preview: Northeastern Jets vs. Fairbanks Panthers

Northeastern hasn't had much luck against Fairbanks recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Northeastern Jets will square off against the Fairbanks Panthers at 7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Northeastern came up short against Cedarville and fell 60-52. The Jets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Fairbanks entered their tilt with Madison Plains on Tuesday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They walked away with a 57-44 victory over the Golden Eagles. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 797th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northeastern's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Fairbanks, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Northeastern took a serious blow against Fairbanks in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 72-36. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Northeastern was down 38-15.
