Baseball Recap: North Adams Takes a Loss

North Adams dropped to 5-6 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Peebles Indians by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 25 runs in the game before, the Green Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Peebles, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 2nd.

For Peebles' part, Braylen Stephens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Stephens has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Stephens wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bo Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Peebles is undefeated when Johnson posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-6 otherwise.

Looking ahead, North Adams will be playing in front of their home fans against McClain at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Green Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Peebles, they will square off against Chillicothe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
