Basketball Recap: Midlothian Comes Up Short

Midlothian extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-9. They had to suffer through an 89-43 loss at the hands of the Byron Nelson Bobcat. The Panthers lost against the Bobcat in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 53-34 score last time.

As for Byron Nelson, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Belle Ratliff, who dropped a double-double with 36 points and 11 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Byron Nelson's points. Berkley Smith was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 14 points along with seven steals and six assists.

Midlothian has already played their next contest, a 52-26 defeat against Weatherford on the 5th. As for Byron Nelson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-27 win against Randall on the 5th.
