Softball Recap: Colleton County's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Colleton County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Bluffton Bobcats with a sharp 14-3 win. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bobcats, too.

Lanasia Sanders made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.6 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bre Gerard, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Alexia Eversole, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Colleton County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Colleton County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Coming up, Colleton County will venture away from home to face off against Branchville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bluffton, they will welcome May River at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. May River will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
