Baseball Game Preview: Saugus Sachems vs. Lynn English Bulldogs

The Saugus Sachems are taking a road trip to square off against the Lynn English Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Saugus' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Lynn English's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Saugus came into this matchup off a tough seven-run defeat on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Gloucester by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. The Sachems have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Lynn English had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 6-3.

Jariel Benzan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Benzan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Julian Rodriguez was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Engel Thomas was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Lynn English always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Revere only posted an OBP of .375.

Lynn English now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Saugus, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Saugus came out on top in a nail-biter against Lynn English in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sachems since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
