Basketball Recap: Burley Bobcats vs. Canyon Ridge Riverhawks
Burley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Canyon Ridge Riverhawks, falling 64-43. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-58 two weeks ago.
Despite the loss, Burley still got an impressive performance from Jake Seely, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Cove Thompson, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Burley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.
Canyon Ridge was led to victory by Dylan Brown and Mason Hill. Brown went 8 of 14 from beyond the arc on his way to 26 points, while Hill went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Cartwright, who had seven points.
Burley's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Canyon Ridge, they moved to 3-6 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
Burley will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Canyon Ridge has already played their next contest, a 59-48 win against Minico on the 18th.
