League recap: North Lenoir win leads to rise in state rank

3A Eastern Carolina recap Sept. 26, 2012

North Lenoir moved up to 274 from 313 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Eastern Carolina. The Hawks climbed the ranks as a result of a 28-26 win over the Hawks.

Triton extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Southern Wayne, 21-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Triton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Maurice McBryde threw for 20 yards and Chris Eason had 13 yards receiving. On the ground Brandon McLean chipped in 88 yards. Dedrick Stacker helped Triton's passing attack out by catching one ball for seven yards.

5-foot-10 quarterback Austin Snowden of C.B. Aycock is the league leader in passing yards this season with 319. He has also thrown two touchdowns. On the ground, Ashley Ennis's team's Stacker has rushed for 818 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Isaih McNeill. The Triton star has five catches for 126 yards.

A big matchup in 3A Eastern Carolina this week will be when the Golden Falcons take on South Johnston. C.B. Aycock is currently in fourth, while the Trojans are in third.

Randy Pinkowski's team and North Lenoir played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Randy Pinkowski's team eventually emerging with a 28-26 victory.
