Basketball Recap: Lake Worth Takes a Loss

Lake Worth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They came up short against the Decatur Eagles, falling 84-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), the Bullfrogs still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Worth lost, don't look at Braylen Fridia. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 17 on his way to 24 points. Another player making a difference was Ayden Brooks, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lake Worth smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

It was another big night for Javen Colbert, who went 8 of 17 en route to 32 points in addition to seven boards and five steals for Decatur. That makes it six consecutive games in which Colbert has scored at least a third of Decatur's points. Kaceson Ore was another key player, putting up 12 points and six rebounds.

Lake Worth's defeat dropped their record down to 10-19. As for Decatur, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season.

Looking ahead, Lake Worth will head out on the road to challenge Eagle Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Worth has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Decatur, they will welcome Bridgeport at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Decatur's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Bridgeport has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
