Baseball Recap: Chief Leschi Takes a Loss

Chief Leschi had lost nine straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-13 to make it ten. They came up short against the Raymond/South Bend Ravens, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Ravens this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 on Tuesday.

As for Raymond/South Bend, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games.

For Raymond/South Bend's part, Caiden De Los Santos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. De Los Santos has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Raymond/South Bend is 2-1 when De Los Santos posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Will Schray was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Raymond/South Bend: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolen Miller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Chief Leschi does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Raymond/South Bend, they will challenge Pe Ell/Willapa Valley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pe Ell/Willapa Valley will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Raymond/South Bend surely won't give up without a fight.
