Preview: Dominion Academy Sabers vs. Christian Academy Eagles
Dominion Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last six games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dominion Academy's defense has only allowed 27.8 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them.
Even though Dominion Academy has not done well against the Spartans recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Dominion Academy came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 37-28.
Dominion Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Gebhart out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rachel DeGregoria, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Christian Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 36-14 margin over East Dayton Christian. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 23-0.
Dominion Academy pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32 points. As for Christian Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
Everything went Dominion Academy's way against the Eagles in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the Sabers made off with a 49-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dominion Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
