Football Game Preview: Robinson Rockets vs. China Spring Cougars

Two dominant backs in Evan Moreno and CHRISHON GREGORY are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Robinson Rockets will head out on the road to challenge the China Spring Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Robinson will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Gatesville, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 35-14 margin over the Hornets on Friday. With the Rockets ahead 21-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

It was another big night for Brice McCurdy, who threw for 196 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 68 yards. A healthy portion of McCurdy's aerial production (101 yards to be exact) went to Dylan Medlock.

Robinson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Bryce Vasquez, Lane Lawson, Ty Weaver, and Landon Armes picked up one apiece. Armes is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask China Spring). They had just enough and edged out Lorena 49-47. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Leopards recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Robinson's record now sits at 7-2. As for China Spring, their record is now 3-6.

Robinson strolled past China Spring in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 45-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
