Softball Recap: Clermont Northeastern Drops Season-High Score on Georgetown

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clermont Northeastern). They put the hurt on the Georgetown G-Men with a sharp 16-3 win on Wednesday. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the G-Men recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Jenna Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addisyn Baker, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Karlee Gamble was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Clermont Northeastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Georgetown only managed six hits.

Clermont Northeastern pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Georgetown, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coincidentally, Clermont Northeastern and Georgetown will both be playing Williamsburg the next time they take the field. The G-Men will head out to face the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Rockets will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
