Lately, something has been sending high school basketball fans into a rabid frenzy, almost literally.

Bats apparently have been unwelcome fans at high school basketball games.

Last Thursday, in a Class 2A playoff game between Southwest Onslow (Jacksonville, N.C.) and host West Bladen (Bladenboro, N.C.), a bat flew around the court, causing a delay in the game before the bat was eventually subdued.

According to KLTV, it was the second area game in recent weeks to be affected by the presence of bats.

Two years earlier, in a game between Stratford (Conn.) and Wilbur Cross (New Haven, Conn.), a pair of the winged mammals sent players sprinting off the court multiple times.
