Football Recap: Union Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Union Christian Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They were dealt a 64-8 defeat at the hands of the Briarfield Academy Rebels. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 62-0 to the Rebels when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Landon Byrnes threw for 85 yards on six of 21 attempts. Caden Chandler was his top target, picking up 45 receiving yards.

As for Briarfield Academy, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won seven games by 20 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Trecin Baker, who rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 71 receiving yards and one TD. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Jack Woodall, who gained 114 total yards and two touchdowns.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Union Christian Academy will square off against rival Riverdale Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Briarfield Academy is set to face off against their familiar foe Tallulah Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
