Basketball Recap: East Rutherford Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

East Rutherford extended their winning streak to six on Friday, bumping them up to 13-2. They walked away with a 57-44 victory over East Burke. That's more bragging rights for East Rutherford, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

East Rutherford was led to victory by Ty Abrams and Andre Staley. Abrams posted eight points, while Staley put up 14 points. Another player making a difference was Eli Roof, who had five points.

As for East Burke, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-11 record. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while East Rutherford is ranked 140th).

Luke Demiter and Lincoln Burns certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Demiter scored nine points and seven boards, while Burns earned 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ Williams, who posted five points.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. East Rutherford will challenge R-S Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will be up against the Hilltoppers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for East Burke, they will square off against Draughn at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
