Soccer Game Preview: Clovis West vs. Central

The Clovis West Golden Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Central Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Clovis West is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Clovis West's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Centennial. Given the Golden Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Golden Hawks are ranked 692nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, neither Central nor Garces Memorial could gain the upper hand on Saturday so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Clovis West pushed their record up to 7-3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those five contests. With that draw, Central's record moves to 4-6-3.

Clovis West might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from Central in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Clovis West was down 3-0.
