Soccer Game Preview: Gretna vs. Elkhorn North

The Gretna Dragons are taking a road trip to square off against the Elkhorn North Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gretna's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Gretna is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Bennington, who was ranked second at the time (Gretna was ranked 25th). The Dragons had just enough and edged out the Badgers 2-1. The victory continues a trend for Gretna in their matchups with Bennington: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Elkhorn North was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Gretna East who was credited with the win. The Griffins got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Elkhorn North's four. One reason for the loss might be Elkhorn North's aggressive play style: Kaden Sprowls and Jonah Santos were both handed yellow cards.

Elkhorn North's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Gretna, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
