Recap: Lake Creek Lions vs. Montgomery Bears
The Lake Creek Lions won the last time they faced the Montgomery Bears, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Lake Creek came out on top against Montgomery by a score of 50-43. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lake Creek.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Savannah Piro, who scored 16 points. Piro scored a full 37.2% of Montgomery's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Janessa Tennison, who scored 14 points.
Montgomery struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lake Creek pushed their record up to 12-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Montgomery, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-4 record this season.
Lake Creek will be home for the holidays to greet Magnolia West at 6:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Montgomery, they will head out on the road to face off against College Station at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. College Station will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 657th, while Montgomery is ranked 212th).
