It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but South Putnam had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 53-20 victory over the Covington Trojans. Considering the Eagles have won eight contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Leading South Putnam to victory were Ty Benton and Wyatt Mullin. Benton rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries, while Mullin threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes. Benton really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run.
South Putnam was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.
