Volleyball Recap: Mountain Crest Mustangs vs. West Field Longhorns

Mountain Crest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Field Longhorns. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in March.

Mountain Crest took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 15-4.

Weston May paced Mountain Crest's offense, picking up 13 kills. May got some help from Breckan Jessup and his 32 assists. Finally, May was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

West Field got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hayden Pontius out in front who had 16 digs. Those 16 digs gave Pontius a new career-high.

Mountain Crest's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for West Field, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-10 record this season.

Mountain Crest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Logan on the 10th. As for West Field, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Ridgeline on the 10th.
