Recap: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Farmington Phoenix
On Friday, the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles faced the Farmington Phoenix in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Maple Mountain fell just short of Farmington by a score of 66-63. Maple Mountain's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Maple Mountain still got an impressive performance from Brogan Miles, who scored 20 points. Justin Carlisle was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Farmington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Paul Beattie led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. The game was Beattie's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carter Nordquist, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
Maple Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Farmington, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Maple Mountain will be playing in front of their home fans against Timpanogos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Timpanogos' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Farmington will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Crimson Cliffs at 8:10 p.m. on December 7th. Crimson Cliffs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Farmington is ranked third).
