Softball Recap: Lockney Comes Up Short

If Lockney was feeling good fresh off their 18-1 takedown of Morton last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lockney Longhorns fell just short of the Abernathy Antelopes by a score of 8-7 on Saturday. The Longhorns have struggled against the Antelopes recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meetings.

Madison Jimenez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Victoria Salazar, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Lockney's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Abernathy, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Coming up, Lockney will head out on the road to square off against Floydada at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Floydada's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Lockney's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Abernathy, they will host Olton at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
