Softball Recap: Gorham Beats Biddeford for Their Third Straight Victory

Gorham had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Biddeford Tigers as they made off with a 17-3 victory. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Bella McBrady made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. McBrady was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Terra Rioux, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Sawyer VonderHaar was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

Gorham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .567 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Gorham's record is now 10-3. As for Biddeford, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gorham will square off against Westbrook at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Blazes will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Biddeford, they will take on Falmouth at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers are facing the Navigators at the right time seeing as the Navigators are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
