Baseball Game Preview: Lawrence Central Bears vs. Ben Davis Giants

The Lawrence Central Bears will square off against the Ben Davis Giants at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lawrence Central is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

On Friday, Lawrence Central didn't have quite enough to beat Connersville and fell 5-4.

Paul Carnes was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Kaleb Burns was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Solomon Rashid also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Lebanon hit Ben Davis with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Giants came up short against the Tigers, falling 14-4. The Giants have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ben Davis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeremiah Oritz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Ben Davis now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Lawrence Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Lawrence Central couldn't quite get it done against Ben Davis in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
