Softball Recap: West Florence Gets the Win

While West Florence's win against Sumter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. West Florence came out on top in a nail-biter against Sumter on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Gamecocks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Annie Ruth Eliason spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, West Florence saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tolsyn Lynch, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Hannah Marsik also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

West Florence's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Sumter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5-1.

Coming up, West Florence is taking a road trip to challenge Darlington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Florence's pitchers better be ready for this one: Darlington has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Sumter, they will welcome West Florence at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
