White Oak posted their closest victory since August 23rd on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Gilmer Buckeyes 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Roughnecks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
While White Oak might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Gilmer scored at least 12 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-20, 24-26, 19-25, 15-12.
Andee Bridges paced White Oak's offense, picking up 17 kills. Bridges got some help from Addy Young and her 34 assists. Londyn Baker controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 13-11. As for Gilmer, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.
White Oak will square off against Bullard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gilmer, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Lindale on the 4th.
