Baseball Recap: Wirt County Find Success

After losing to South Harrison the last time they met, Wirt County decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Tigers walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Hawks on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Wyatt Boice made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Boice was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jakob Moore, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brody Ewing, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Wirt County's win bumped their record up to 5-2-1. As for South Harrison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.

Coming up, Wirt County will head out on the road to face off against Calhoun at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Harrison has already played their next matchup (against Doddridge County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
