Recap: Lakewood Leopards vs. Lejeune Devil Pups

The Lakewood Leopards scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They came out on top against Lejeune by a score of 65-56. With that win, Lakewood brought their scoring average up to 52.8 points per game.

Cameron Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Lakewood's points. Kristofer Robinson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.

Lejeune's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Elijah Winston, who scored 21 points along with three steals, and Devon Charles who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds. The game was Charles' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Highsmith, who scored 13 points.

Lakewood's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2. As for Lejeune, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Lakewood's homestand continues as they prepare to take on South Lenoir at 8:00 p.m. on December 28th. South Lenoir is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Lejeune will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Richlands at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Richlands focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Tuesday.
