Baseball Recap: Gilman Comes Up Short

Gilman lost to Columbus Catholic on Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pirates came up short against the Dons, falling 15-7. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Trevin Duellman and Beau Pockat stepped up to the plate in a big way. Duellman went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Pockat went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Gilman is 4-1 when Duellman posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

Gilman's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Columbus Catholic, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2.

Gilman and Columbus Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Pirates will challenge Augusta at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (175 vs. 376). Meanwhile, Columbus Catholic (ranked 49th) will meet Wausau West (ranked 256th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
