Football Game Preview: Genesee/Colton WA vs. Deary Mustangs

Genesee/Colton WA will take on the Deary Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Deary will be up against a hot Genesee/Colton WA squad: the team just extended their winning streak to seven. Everything went Genesee/Colton WA's way against Timberline on Friday as they made off with a 54-32 victory.

Meanwhile, Deary faced Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mustangs put the hurt on Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] with a sharp 48-28 win. With the Mustangs ahead 30-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Genesee/Colton WA better keep an eye on Jarrett Keen. He was instrumental in Deary's win, rushing for 165 yards and four scores on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 83 yards and a pair of TDs. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Keen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper Dammerman, who rushed for 99 yards on only 12 carries.

Deary was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 291 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Deary didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jacob Mechling and Nolan Hubbard. Blake Clark was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Genesee/Colton WA's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Deary, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Genesee/Colton WA suffered a grim 42-20 defeat to Deary in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Keen, who rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 102 yards and a pair of TDs.
